Where Can I go Cross-Country Skiing?
We have focused on commercial groomed areas and state Sno-Parks here, since these are the areas we ski at and know. If you ski at an area not listed here and would like to share info on the area, e-mail us the information and we'll add it to the list.
1. State-Wide Sno-Park System
Washington State maintains a series of winter recreation sites around the state. Some of these (like Cabin Creek) are groomed for both diagonal and skating, some are groomed just for diagonal stride, and some are only groomed occasionally. The cost for using these parks is either $7 per vehicle per day, or $20 per season for a Sno-Park permit. The season permits are also valid in Oregon and Idaho, and can be used on two vehicles registered to the same owner. A new additional $20 fee is in place this year for using the areas that are groomed regularly. The areas that require this season groomed trail permit are: Cabin Creek, Lake Easton, Lake Keechelus, Price Creek, Lake Wenatchee, Chiwawa Loop, Crystal Springs, Kahler Glenn, and Mount Spokane. The first four of these areas are between 5 and 20 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass.
Sno-Park and groomed trail permits are available at most outdoor stores. For more information call 800-233-0321. The Washington State Groomed Cross-Country Ski Trails and Snowmobile Guide is also available for $4 at these same stores.
