2022 Trips

Hi Skiers & Snowboarders,

First snow of the season got your stoke going? Don’t miss your opportunity to join us on one of our group ski trips to incredible locations. We still have room on Mt. Bachelor, Sun Peaks, & Whistler trips!

Trip flyers, signing up, and more information are available at: http://skibacs.org/trips

SUN PEAKS, January 29th – February 4th

Come ski Canada’s second largest ski area! Near Kamloops, British Columbia, Sun Peaks offers nearly 4270 acres of skiable terrain with 2,894’ vertical! There are two alpine bowls, 138 trails with 19 gladed areas (32% expert/ 58% intermediate/ 10% novice). Thirteen lifts include 3 high-speed quads, 4 quads & 6 surface lifts.   Don’t miss gliding among the trees on Mt. Morrisey, or skiing down “Five Mile Run”, or flying down the ‘groomed black-diamond of the day’. For snowboarders, there’s a 10-acre terrain park with distinct zones for all abilities. And there are over 34km of groomed/track-set cross-country trails plus 19km of backcountry trails. Sun Peaks’ Sun Hosts provide complimentary guided tours every day, and if you’re lucky, your guide might be Nancy Green (Canada’s Olympic ski champion who makes Sun Peaks her home). Sign up for “First Tracks” (includes meal) … or book a fondue dinner up top, followed by a starlight descent!

MT BACHELOR, February 25th -March 2nd

has 360 degrees of skiing from it’s peak. Within this playground of terrain lies some of the best tree skiing you’ll ever experience, an incredible amount of off-piste options, a world class terrain park, & maintained runs for all ability levels!

WHISTLER BLACKCOMB, March 25th – April 1st

This is your opportunity to cross off this bucket list trip! This ski trip presented by SKIBACS, will have a base of operations in Whistler Village, Whistler, BC. Whistler Blackcomb has a combined skiable area of 8,171 acres & over 10k combined vertical feet! As well as some of the biggest skiing in North America, it also holds some of the finest Après and list of activities available. Whistler and
Blackcomb villages offer something for everyone, from the family skier, to the adventurous single, and everyone in between! We are extra excited to announce Cat Skiing will be available on one of the ski days!

SKIBACS Crystal Mountain Lodge

Greetings!  It is getting to be that time to wax up the skis and boards.  Early Opening for Pass Holders Only (Crystal pass & IKON) at Crystal Mountain, November 18th!  A nice early start to the season and it looks to be another good snow year for the Cascades. Fingers crossed.

The lodge is ready for you to come and stay, get those reservations in early to guarantee a room.  As in the past, since COVID, we do not add individuals that are non- family/friends to rooms, which limits availability but gives members peace of mind of no “strangers” occupying a bed in your room that you have booked.  With that said, our rates have increased $10 across the board.   With the increase in our costs of maintaining the lodge this was a necessity, not one that we just “willy-nilly” decide to do.   Our goal is to continue making improvements to the lodge each year if our finances allow.  The lodge is old but an incredible asset to the club and our members.  We are lucky to be in a ski area that is putting a lot of resources into improving the area.  Check out the Crystal Mountain website to see the current and future plans: Plans

With regards to the club and overnight parking, please read below.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the Crystal Mountain parking lot clean up, your efforts helped with the continued designated parking for club members.

From Crystal Mountain’s website:  Parking reservations are REQUIRED for each vehicle every Saturday and Sunday until 1 pm starting 12/26/22, plus holidays.  Reservations are not required for guests arriving after 1:00 pm.

SKIBACS members and their guests with current-night (only!) paid reservations at Skibac’s Lodge, can park in areas designated for “Clubs’ Parking” in Lots C & D free of charge and without parking reservations.  Parking there at other times may result in a fine or loss of skiing privileges.   Those spaces may not become available until later in the evening, so if you arrive early you may need to park elsewhere, then move your car into one of those spaces once they open up after current-day customers go home.

Further information of consequence can be found at: PARKING

We have lockers available at the Crystal Mountain Skibacs Lodge! Cost is $100 for the season Oct 1-Sept 30 2023. Contact the receptionist via email for more information, questions or how to pay.  mailto:info@skibacs.org

SKIBACS Retiree’s!  We will be offering a discount mid-week overnight during the season for you and guests.  Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

A bit of housekeeping for everyone:

  • Remember to sign up for a task when staying (we are not a hotel)
  • NO FOOD in sleeping rooms (the mice love YOU if you do)
  • Bring a sheet/blanket for mattress even if you have a sleeping bag, this helps with keeping mattress covers clean.
  • No cooking complex meals, heat and eat is best

I look forward to seeing you at the lodge and on the mountain.  Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you!

Best,

Wendy Welch
